Torque Converter Stall Test

This test measures the maximum engine speed when the selector lever is in the "D" or "R" position and the torque converter is stalled, to check the operation of the torque converter, starter and one-way clutch, and the holding capacity of the clutches and brakes in the transaxle.

  1. Check the automatic transaxle fluid level and temperature, and the engine coolant temperature.

    • Fluid level: At the HOT mark on the transaxle fluid level gauge.

    • Fluid temperature: 80–100 °C

    • Engine coolant temperature: 80–100 °C

  2. Chock both rear wheels (left and right).

  3. Pull the parking brake lever while fully depressing the brake pedal.

  4. Start the engine.

  5. Shift the selector lever to the "D" position, fully depress the accelerator pedal, and measure the maximum engine speed at this time.

Hydraulic Pressure Test

  1. Warm up the engine until the automatic transaxle fluid temperature reaches 80–100 °C.

  2. Raise the vehicle with a jack so that the wheels can rotate freely.

  3. Connect the oil pressure gauges (special service tools 09452-21500, 09452-21000, 09452-21600) to each pressure test port.

  4. Measure the hydraulic pressure at each port under the specified conditions in the standard hydraulic pressure table, and make sure the measured values are within the standard values.

  5. If a value is outside the standard range, correct the problem by referring to the hydraulic pressure test diagnostic table.

    * Must satisfy the above condition in both the rising portions of PCSV-D Sol (0 → 100%) and the falling portion (100 → 0%).

    * PCSV-D Sol flow rate at DA pressure of 0.2 kgf/cm² must be within 20–30%.

    * Minimum value must be below 0.2 kgf/cm².
