Curtain airbag (if equipped)

Curtain airbags are located along the side edges of the roof above the front and rear doors.

They are designed to help protect the heads of front and rear outboard occupants in certain types of side collisions.

Curtain airbags are designed to deploy only in certain types of side collisions, depending on their severity, angle, speed and point of impact.

Curtain airbags are not designed to deploy in all types of frontal or rear collisions, or in most rollover accidents.

WARNING
  • For the curtain airbags to provide the best protection, both front and rear outboard occupants should sit upright and be properly restrained with seat belts. Children should be seated in the rear seats in appropriate child restraint systems.
  • When children sit in the rear outboard seats, they must be secured in appropriate child restraint systems. Make sure the child restraint is installed as far from the doors as possible and secured in the correct position.
  • When seats are equipped with curtain airbags, do not allow occupants to rest their heads, arms or other body parts against the doors, extend their arms out of the window, or place objects between the doors and the occupant's body.
  • Never open or repair any component of the curtain airbag system. This work must be carried out by an authorized Kia dealer.

Failure to follow the above recommendations may result in injury or death of vehicle occupants in an accident.
