The airbag warning light is located on the instrument panel to alert the driver to potential problems with the airbags and the entire Supplemental Restraint System (SRS).

After the ignition is turned on, the warning light should illuminate for approx.

6 seconds, and then go off.

The system should be checked if:

  • The warning light does not illuminate briefly after the ignition is turned on.
  • The airbag warning light stays on for about 6 seconds.
  • The light comes on when the vehicle is in motion.
  • The light flashes when the ignition switch is in the ON position.

Front passenger airbag ON indicator
(if equipped)

The front passenger airbag ON indicator comes on for about 4 seconds after the ignition key is turned to the ON position.

The front passenger airbag ON indicator also comes on when the front passenger airbag ON/OFF switch is set to the ON position, and then turns off after about 60 seconds.

Front passenger airbag OFF indicator (if equipped)

The front passenger airbag OFF indicator comes on for about 4 seconds after the ignition key is turned to the ON position.

It also comes on when the front passenger airbag ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position, and turns off when the front passenger airbag ON/OFF switch is set to the ON position.

CAUTION If the front passenger airbag ON/OFF switch is faulty, the front passenger airbag OFF indicator does not illuminate (the front passenger airbag ON indicator lights up and then goes off after approximately 60 seconds), and the airbag will deploy in a frontal collision even if it has been turned off with the ON/OFF switch. In this case, have the ON/OFF switch and the SRS system checked by an authorized Kia dealer as soon as possible.
