The driver's seat and front passenger seat are equipped with head restraints that improve the safety and comfort of the driver and passenger.

The head restraint not only provides comfort to the driver and passengers, but also helps protect the head and neck in an accident.

WARNING
  • For maximum effectiveness in the event of an accident, the head restraint should be adjusted so that its center is at the same height as the center of gravity of the occupant's head. In most people, the center of gravity of the head is at the same level as the top of the eyes.

    The head restraint should also be positioned as close as possible to the head. For this reason, the use of cushions that prevent the occupant's body from resting properly against the seatback is not recommended.

  • Never drive the vehicle with the head restraints removed. In the event of an accident, this may result in serious injury to the vehicle occupants. When head restraints are properly adjusted, they can help protect against neck injuries.
  • Do not adjust the driver's head restraint while driving.

Height adjustment up and down

To raise the head restraint, pull it up to the desired position (1). To lower the head restraint, press and release the button (2) on its base and push it down to the desired position (3).

Removal and installation

To remove the head restraint:

  1. Fold down the seatback (2) using the recline lever or switch (1).
  2. Raise the head restraint to its highest position.
  3. Press the release button (3) while holding the head restraint up (4).
WARNING NEVER allow anyone to drive the vehicle with the head restraint removed.

To reinstall the head restraint:

  1. Insert its metal posts (2) into the holes while pressing the release button (1).
  2. Raise the seatback (4) using the recline lever or switch (3).
  3. Then adjust the head restraint to the appropriate height.
WARNING After properly adjusting it, always make sure it is locked in its new position.

Forward and backward adjustment

The head restraint can be moved forward into 4 different positions by pulling it forward. To move the head restraint back, pull it fully forward to its farthest position and release. Position the head restraint so that it properly supports the head and neck.

WARNING A gap may appear between the seat and the head restraint release button when you push or pull the seat. Be careful not to insert your fingers or other body parts, to avoid pinching them.
