WARNING

  • Do not park or stop your vehicle on a surface covered with flammable materials such as dry grass, old paper or rags. These materials could ignite and cause a fire.
  • Safe parking procedures require that the parking brake be firmly applied and the selector lever be placed in P (Park).

Failure to follow these instructions may cause the vehicle to move unexpectedly and result in an accident.

Make sure the selector lever has been moved as far forward as possible and cannot be moved unless the brake pedal is depressed.
  • Never leave your vehicle unattended while the engine is running.
  • Do not leave children unattended in the vehicle. They could operate switches or controls by accident. Children left unattended in a vehicle could be involved in serious accidents.
    1. Firmly apply the parking brake.
    2. Move the selector lever to the P (park) position.
    3. When parking on a slope, the wheel positioning suggestions shown here can be very helpful in preventing your vehicle from rolling into the traffic lane.
    • DOWNHILL WITH CURB: A

Turn the wheels toward the curb and move the vehicle forward until the wheel on the curb side touches it.

    • UPHILL WITH CURB: B

Turn the wheels away from the curb and move the vehicle backward until the wheel on the curb side touches it.

    • UPHILL OR DOWNHILL WITHOUT CURB: C

Turn the wheels toward the edge of the road so that the vehicle moves away from the center of the road if it rolls.

    1. Place the ignition switch in the LOCK position.
