Towing

~2min read

Before any towing, unlock the steering column: foot on the clutch, engage first gear (lever in N or R for vehicles with automatic gearbox), insert the RENAULT card into the card reader, then press the engine start button for two seconds.

Return the lever to neutral (N position for vehicles fitted with an automatic gearbox).

The column unlocks and the accessory functions are powered: you can use the vehicle lighting (indicators, brake lights...). At night the vehicle must be lit.

Once towing is complete, press the engine start button twice (risk of battery discharge).

pas la carteDo not
remove the RENAULT card from the reader during towing.

It is imperative to comply with the regulations in force concerning towing.

If you are the towing vehicle, do not exceed the towable weight of your vehicle (refer to the "Weights" paragraph in chapter 6).

Utilisez exclusivement les points de remorquage avant 3 et arrière 6
Use only the front 3 and rear 6 towing points

(never the transmission tubes or any other part of the vehicle). These towing points may only be used for towing; under no circumstances must they be used to lift the vehicle, directly or indirectly.

arrêté, les assistancesWith the engine
off, the power steering and brake assistance are no longer operational.

Accès aux points de remorquage
Access to the towing points

Unclip cover 5 or 7 by inserting a flat tool (or the key integrated in the RENAULT card) under the cover.

Screw in towing eye 4 as far as it will go: first by hand until it stops, then tighten fully using the wheel brace or, depending on the vehicle, the lever.

Use only towing eye 4 and the wheel brace or lever stored with the tools (refer to the “Tools” section in chapter 5).

Utilisez une barre de remorquage

  • Use a rigid towing bar. If using a rope or cable (where permitted by law), the towed vehicle must be fitted with brakes.
  • Do not tow a vehicle whose roadworthiness is impaired.
  • Avoid jerky acceleration and braking, which could damage the vehicle.
  • In all cases, it is advisable not to exceed 50 km/h.
  • Do not push the vehicle if the steering column is locked.
jamais les outilsNever leave
tools loose in the vehicle: risk of projectiles during braking.
