Filter Replacement

The air cleaner filter can be cleaned with compressed air for inspection. Do not attempt to wash or rinse it, as water may damage the filter. If it is contaminated, the air cleaner filter must be replaced.

1. Remove the air cleaner filter cover.

2. Wipe the inside of the air cleaner.

3. Move the lever to the UNLOCK position.

4. Replace the air cleaner filter.

5. Raise the lever (1) to the LOCKED position.

6. Install the cover and make sure the inner hooks (2) are inserted into the holes (3).

7. Check that the cover is securely installed.

Information

If the vehicle is operated in very dusty or sandy areas, replace the element more often than the normal recommended intervals (see "Severe Operating Conditions" in this chapter).

NOTICE

  • Do not drive with the air filter removed. This will cause excessive engine wear.
  • When removing the air filter, take care that dust or dirt does not enter the air intake, as this may cause damage.
  • Use only genuine HYUNDAI parts. Using non-genuine parts may damage the mass air flow sensor.
