Explanation of Scheduled Maintenance Items
Engine Oil and Filter
Engine oil and oil filter should be replaced at the intervals specified in the Maintenance Schedule. If the vehicle is operated under severe conditions, oil and filter changes are required more frequently.
Seat Belts
Inspect all drive belts for cuts, cracks, excessive wear, or oil saturation, and replace if necessary. Drive belts must be periodically checked for proper tension and adjusted if necessary.
Fuel filter
A clogged filter may restrict vehicle speed, damage the exhaust system, and cause a number of problems, such as hard starting. If excessive foreign matter accumulates in the fuel tank, the filter may need to be replaced more often. After installing a new filter, let the engine run for a few minutes and check the connections for leaks. Fuel filters must be installed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Fuel Lines, Fuel Hoses, and Connections
Inspect fuel lines, fuel hoses, and connections for leaks and damage. Have an authorized HYUNDAI dealer immediately replace any damaged or leaking parts.
Vapor Hose and Fuel Tank Cap
The evaporation hose and fuel tank cap should be inspected at the intervals specified in the Maintenance Schedule. Make sure that a new evaporation hose or fuel tank cap is correctly installed when replaced.
Air Cleaner Filter
When replacing the filter, it is recommended to use a genuine HYUNDAI air cleaner filter.
Spark Plugs
Be sure to install new spark plugs of the correct heat range.
Valve Clearance (if equipped)
Check for excessive valve noise and/or engine vibration and adjust if necessary. Have this operation performed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Cooling System
Inspect cooling system components, such as the radiator, coolant reservoir, hoses, and connections, for leaks and damage. Replace any damaged parts.
Engine Coolant
The engine coolant should be replaced at the intervals specified in the Maintenance Schedule.
Automatic Transmission Fluid
Automatic transmission fluid does not need to be checked under normal driving conditions. However, under severe operating conditions, the fluid should be changed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer in accordance with the scheduled maintenance at the beginning of this chapter.
NOTICE
The color of automatic transmission fluid is normally red.
As the vehicle is driven, the automatic transmission fluid begins to look darker. This is normal and should not be used as the sole basis for replacing the fluid based on its changed color.
CAUTION
Using a different fluid may cause transmission malfunction and failure. Use only the specified automatic transmission fluid (see "Lubricants and Capacities" in chapter 8).
Ecoshift Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid
Inspect the Ecoshift dual clutch transmission fluid according to the schedule.
Brake Hoses and Lines
Visually inspect for correct installation, wear, cracks, deterioration, and any other damage or leaks. Replace any worn or damaged parts immediately.
Brake fluid
Check the brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir. The level should be between the MIN and MAX marks on the side of the reservoir. Use only brake fluid that meets DOT 3 or DOT 4 specifications.
Parking Brake
Inspect the parking brake system, including the parking brake pedal and cables.
Brake Discs, Pads, Calipers and Rotors
Check the pads for excessive wear, the discs for runout and wear, and the calipers for fluid leakage.
Exhaust Pipe and Muffler
Visually inspect the exhaust pipes, muffler and hangers for cracks, wear, or damage. Start the engine and listen carefully for any exhaust leaks. Tighten connections or replace parts as necessary.
Suspension Mounting Bolts
Check the suspension connections for looseness or damage. Tighten to the specified torque.
Steering Gear Box, Linkage and Lower Arm Ball Joint Dust Covers
With the vehicle stopped and the engine off, check for excessive play in the steering wheel. Check the connection for bends or damage. Check the dust covers and ball joints for wear, cracks, or damage. Replace any damaged parts.
Drive Shafts and Boots
Check the drive shafts, boots and clamps for cracks, wear, or damage. Replace any damaged parts and refill grease as necessary.
Air Conditioning Refrigerant
Check the air conditioning lines and connections for leaks and damage.
