Inspection

  1. Check the battery voltage. (The low beam will be turned on when the battery voltage is above 9 V.)
  2. Check the fuse and relay.
  3. Check the ballast polarity. (If the polarity is reversed, the low beam does not illuminate.)
  4. Securely check the bulb connector.
  5. Visual inspection of bulb (filament removed): Check for glass damage and damage to the upper and lower parts of the glass tube.
  6. After (1) through (5), replace the ballast and igniter (ballast assembly).
  7. Vibration resistant, since there is no filament.
  8. The HID bulb has a longer service life than the halogen bulb.
  9. Does not operate if polarity is reversed.
  10. Operating input voltage: 9-16 V

Headlamp Aiming Instructions

[Mechanical Aiming]

Aim the headlamps with the correct beam setting equipment, and follow the equipment manufacturer's instructions.
If there are any regulations regarding headlamp aiming in the area where the vehicle will be used, adjust the aim to meet those requirements.
Alternately turn the adjusting mechanism to adjust the headlamp aim. If beam setting equipment is not available, proceed as follows:
  1. Inflate the tires to the specified pressure and remove all loads from the vehicle except the driver, spare tire, and tools.
  2. The vehicle must be on a level floor.
  3. Draw vertical lines (vertical lines passing through the respective centers of the headlamps) and a horizontal line (horizontal line passing through the center of the headlamps) on the screen.
  4. With the headlamp and battery in normal condition, aim the headlamps so that the brightest part is on the vertical lines. A: Vertical
  5. Headlamp (Low Beam)
    A. Turn on the low beam without the driver.
    B. The light-dark boundary line must project onto the light-dark boundary line shown in the illustration.
    C. If a headlamp leveling device is installed, set the headlamp leveling switch to position 0.
Headlamp and Fog Lamp Aiming Point / Headlamp Fogging: Check the procedure below when the headlamp is fogged.

Removal

  1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
  2. Remove the front bumper cover. (Refer to Body - "Front Bumper Cover")
  3. Disconnect the headlamp connector (A).
  4. Remove the headlamp mounting bolts (B).
Be careful not to damage the clip (A).
  5. Remove the bulb caps from the headlamp assembly by turning them counterclockwise.
  6. Remove the bracket (A) after loosening the mounting screws. [Concealed type]
  7. Disconnect the igniter connector (A).
  8. Remove the ignition lamp (B).
  9. Remove the turn signal socket (A).
  10. Remove the turn signal lamp (B).

Installation

  1. Install the headlamp assembly after connecting the connector.
  2. Install the front bumper cover.
  3. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal.

Replacement

Ballast
  1. Turn off the headlamp switch.
  2. Remove the bulb assembly.
  3. Disconnect the power connector from the bulb.
  4. Remove the ballast (A) after loosening the screws.
Be careful not to damage the ballast connector when disconnecting it.
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal.
    • Turn off the headlights to avoid high voltage.
    • Do not use the HID lamp on other vehicles.
    • The HID lamp arc discharge generates high voltage (max. 20,000 V) and high current (12-13 A), and differs from the halogen lamp specification.
    • Install the dust cover after checking the locking condition between the lamp and the socket.
    • When inspecting the HID headlamp, turn the power on or off using the switch between the power source and the lamp because of the high voltage.
    • Do not turn on the headlight switch with the lamp not installed, as it will generate a spark instantly.
