WARNING
- Whenever you leave the vehicle or park, always come to a complete stop and keep depressing the brake pedal. Move the shift lever to the P (Park) position, press the EPB switch, and press the Engine Start/Stop button to the OFF position. When leaving the vehicle, take the smart key with you. If the vehicle is not fully in the P (Park) position with the parking brake applied, there is a risk of it moving unintentionally and causing injury to yourself or others.
- NEVER allow anyone unfamiliar with the vehicle to touch the EPB switch. Unintentional release of the EPB may result in serious injury.
- Release the EPB only when you are seated in the vehicle with your foot firmly on the brake pedal.
NOTICE
- Do not depress the accelerator pedal while the parking brake is applied. If you depress the accelerator pedal while the EPB is applied, a warning sound will sound and a message will appear. Damage to the parking brake may occur.
- Driving with the parking brake applied may overheat the brake system and cause premature wear or damage to brake system components. Make sure the EPB is released and the parking brake indicator light turns off before driving.
Information
- A clicking or whirring sound may be heard while the EPB is operating or releasing. These conditions are normal and indicate proper EPB operation.
- When leaving the keys with a valet or parking attendant, make sure to tell him/her how to operate the EPB.
