Check the brake fluid level by observing the reservoir in the engine compartment.

The fluid level should be between the "MAX" and "MIN" lines. If the fluid level is near "MIN", top it up to the "MAX" line with brake fluid of type SAE J1703 or DOT-3.

WARNING Failure to follow the instructions below may cause injury to users or serious damage to the brake system.
  • If the brake fluid in the reservoir drops below a certain level, the warning lamp on the instrument panel will light (the engine must be running and the parking brake fully released). If the lamp lights, have the brake system checked immediately by an authorised SUZUKI service station.
  • Rapid fluid loss indicates a leak in the system, which should be checked immediately by an authorised SUZUKI service station.
  • Brake fluid is harmful to the eyes and damages painted surfaces. Be careful when topping up the reservoir.
  • Do not use any fluid other than SAE J1703 or DOT-3 brake fluid. Do not use recycled fluid or fluid stored in old or open containers. It is essential that foreign matter or other liquids do not enter the brake fluid reservoir.

NOTICE Brake fluid should be replaced every four years.

NOTE: On disc brakes, the fluid level may be expected to drop as the brake pads wear.
