Removal and installation of radiator

~1min read

PROCEDURE 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Drain the coolant. 3. Disconnect the wires from fan thermoswitch 5 (see illustration Radiator and cooling fan for 1.1 and 1.3 L engines) or 9 (see illustration Radiator and cooling fan for 1.6 and 1.8 L engines) and from electric cooling fan 16 or 3. Bend back bracket 1 and remove the wires from it. 4. Disconnect inlet hose 12 or 16 from the radiator. 5. Remove the radiator grille. 6. Remove the two bolts on each side securing right cover 15 or 17 and left cover 10 or 12 of the radiator, and move the covers aside. 7. Remove radiator mounting bolts 11 or 13. Lift up bracket 14 or 15. 8. Remove the radiator mounting bolt from the bottom on the left side. 9. Move the radiator back and disconnect hose 7 or 8.

Disconnect hose 18 from the radiator (see illustration Radiator and cooling fan for 1.6 and 1.8 L engines). 10. Lift the radiator up together with the fan shroud and fan. 11. Remove the fan shroud mounting bolts and remove shroud 2 with the fan. Remove the fan mounting nuts from the shroud and remove the fan 16 or 3.

12. Install the radiator in the reverse order. When installing a new radiator, always replace the coolant. After installing the radiator, warm up the engine until the fan switches on and check the cooling system for leaks.
