Exhaust system 1 – muffler suspension ring; 2 – main muffler; 3 – muffler suspension ring; 4 – clamp; 5 – clamp bolt; 6 – secondary muffler, second stage; 7 – secondary muffler, first stage; 8 – clamp; 9 – muffler inlet pipe; 10 – spring clip; 11 – sealing ring; 12 – exhaust manifold; 13 – exhaust manifold gasket; 14 – catalytic converter; 15 – lambda sensor; 16 – heat shield

The exhaust system consists of muffler inlet pipe 9, secondary mufflers 6 and 7 (on engines with a displacement of 1.1 and 1.3 L, one secondary muffler 7) and main muffler 2. On engines with a displacement of 1.6 and 1.8 L, muffler inlet pipe 9 is connected to exhaust manifold 12 by spring clips 10. On engines with a displacement of 1.1 and 1.3 L, it is connected by two half-round clamps secured by two bolts. On turbocharged engines, the muffler inlet pipe is connected to the turbocharger. To reduce vibration and stress in the exhaust system, engines with a displacement of 1.1 and 1.3 L have a flexible element – a bellows. On vehicles equipped with catalytic converter 14, a shorter muffler inlet pipe and one secondary muffler are installed, since the converter must be installed as close to the engine as possible. Lambda sensor 15, which regulates the optimal composition of exhaust gases, is installed at the front of the exhaust manifold. On vehicles equipped with a catalytic converter or a turbocharged diesel engine, heat shield 16 is installed. All exhaust system components are connected to each other by clamps 4 and 8 and suspended on rubber rings 1 and 3.
