Fan thermoswitch
Removal and Installation PROCEDURE 1. Disconnect the wire from the negative battery terminal. 2. Drain the coolant from the engine cooling system. 3. Unscrew thermoswitch 5 (see fig. Radiator and cooling fan of engines with 1.1 and 1.3 L displacement) and remove the thermoswitch O-ring. 4. Check the thermoswitch. To do this, suspend it in a container of water so that the part of the thermoswitch that screws into the radiator is submerged in the water. Connect it through a bulb to the battery. Heat the water. At a temperature of 93–98° C the bulb must light up. Let the water cool. At a temperature of 88–93° C the bulb must go out. If the bulb does not light up or go out at the specified temperatures, the thermoswitch is faulty and must be replaced. 5. Install the thermoswitch, replacing the O-ring.
Tighten the thermoswitch to a torque of 25 N·m. 6. Fill the cooling system with coolant and connect the battery.
