Lubrication System - Checking Oil Pressure and Oil Pressure Sender

~1min read

для проверки давления двигательного масла и работоспособности датчика давления маслаPressure gauge used to check engine oil pressure and the oil pressure switch function A – oil pressure switch 3 – gauge ground wire

A pressure gauge is required for the check. It can be screwed in place of the oil pressure sender. The oil pressure sender is located on the oil filter housing.

INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. Check the oil level and top up if necessary.

2. Start and warm up the engine. Oil temperature should be approx. +80°C. This temperature is reached when the coolant temperature gauge shows normal operating temperature.

3. Unscrew the switch (A) from the oil filter housing and screw it into the pressure gauge.

4. Screw the pressure gauge into the engine in place of the oil pressure sender.

5. Connect the brown wire –3– of the AUDI (V.A.G 1342) test unit to ground (–).

6. Connect the diode test lamp with an auxiliary wire to the positive (+) battery terminal.

7. Start the engine and slowly increase speed. When the oil pressure specified for this engine is reached (refer to Specifications), the LED must go out. Otherwise, replace the oil pressure sender.

8. Increase engine speed. At 2000 rpm and an oil temperature of +80°C, oil pressure must be at least 2.0 bar.

9. Lower oil pressure indicates a faulty oil pressure relief valve, a faulty oil pump, or worn crankshaft bearings.

10. As engine speed increases, oil pressure must not exceed 7.0 bar. Otherwise, replace the oil pressure relief valve.

11. Install the oil pressure sender and tighten it to 25 N·m. If leaks occur, replace the sealing ring.
