Brake Fluid

~1min read

When working with brake fluid, note the following:

• Brake fluid is poisonous. Never siphon it through a hose with your mouth. Store brake fluid only in containers that cannot be accidentally used for other purposes.

• Brake fluid is corrosive. Avoid contact with painted surfaces. If it does get on a painted surface, wipe the surface and rinse thoroughly with a strong stream of water.

• Brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the air. Therefore, store brake fluid in sealed containers.

• Brake fluid that has been used in the system must not be reused. When bleeding air from the system, use only new fluid.

• The brake fluid type is listed in the Specifications.

• Do not allow brake fluid to contact mineral oils. Even a small amount of mineral oil renders the brake fluid unusable or can cause brake system failure.

• Replace the brake fluid every 2 years, regardless of mileage. It is recommended to do this at the end of the cold season.

• Brake fluid must be disposed of as special waste. Do not pour it down the drain.
