Deactivating parking systems in the BMW 5 VII Gen is necessary in certain situations, such as car washes, during repairs or on uneven surfaces. Using the iDrive system or a dedicated button, PDC, rear view camera, Surround View and other functions can be switched off selectively. This chapter explains the deactivation steps, possible reasons and warnings in the event of system failures. Automatic reactivation under certain driving conditions is also described. The option of temporary deactivation increases flexibility when using the systems, without compromising basic safety.

Principle

The direction of the air flows can be adjusted individually.

Ventilation setting

General

The direction of the air flows can be set for direct or indirect ventilation.

Direct ventilation

Direct the air flow straight at the vehicle occupants. The air flow noticeably heats or cools, depending on the set temperature.

Indirect ventilation

Do not direct the air flow straight at the vehicle occupants. The vehicle interior is heated or cooled indirectly, depending on the set temperature.

Front ventilation

Overview

Überblick
  • Lever for changing the outlet direction, arrows 1.
  • Knurled wheel for infinitely variable opening and closing of the outlets, arrows 2.

Adjusting the temperature

The temperature of the ventilation in the upper body area can be varied.

Via iDrive:

  1. "My Vehicle"
  2. "Vehicle settings"
  3. If applicable, "Climate comfort"
  4. "Upper body temperature adjustment"
  5. Set the desired temperature.
  • Toward blue: colder.
  • Towards red: warmer.

This does not change the interior temperature set for driver and front passenger.

Rear center air vent

  • Knurled wheel for adjusting the temperature, arrow 3.

Toward blue: colder.

Towards red: warmer.

Rear side air vent

  • Knurled wheel for infinitely opening and closing the vents, arrow 2.

The ventilation in the BMW 5 G30/G31 is designed to allow individual adjustment of the airflow in the interior. Whether direct ventilation for fast cooling or heating, or indirect ventilation for an even interior climate, the wide range of settings can be easily adapted to personal preferences.

Separate vents and temperature controls for the front and rear seating areas ensure even and effective ventilation of the interior. The upper body temperature can also be adjusted specifically via iDrive without affecting the general interior temperature. This gives all occupants maximum comfort, regardless of their seat.

FAQ

Question 1: Can the air temperature for driver and front passenger be controlled separately?

Answer: Yes, the ventilation temperature can be set individually for driver and front passenger via iDrive or directly at the vents.

Question 2: Does the temperature setting at the vents affect the automatic climate control?

Answer: No, the temperature setting at the vent does not change the interior temperature of the automatic climate control, only the air temperature in the upper body area.
