Catalytic Converter

CATALYTIC CONVERTER
The vehicle is equipped with a catalytic converter.
• Do not use leaded gasoline as fuel for this vehicle.
On vehicles with a catalytic converter, the fuel tank filler neck is narrow, so a leaded gasoline dispensing nozzle cannot be inserted.
The catalytic converter may be damaged by incomplete combustion of fuel if the engine is started with the accelerator pedal depressed when there is difficulty starting it.
• Do not drive the vehicle if the engine runs roughly or lacks power. This may indicate a serious problem.
Operating the vehicle under these conditions may cause serious damage to the catalytic converter and other vehicle parts.
Contact an authorized Chevrolet dealer as soon as possible if any of the following occurs:
• Misfires.
• Engine runs roughly when cold.
• Engine loses power.
• Vehicle behaves unusually, which may indicate ignition system malfunctions. The MIL lamp stays on or flashes while the engine is running.
• Avoid driving the vehicle with a cold engine whenever possible.
• When attempting to start the vehicle, do not hold the ignition key in the ON position for longer than 15 seconds.
• Do not drive the vehicle until the fuel tank is completely empty.
• Do not attempt to start the engine by pushing or towing the vehicle. Try starting the engine using an auxiliary battery.
Failure to observe these precautions may result in damage to the engine, fuel system and/or exhaust system.
Make sure that all maintenance work on your vehicle has been performed.
Contact an authorized Chevrolet dealer.
This ensures that:
• all vehicle components will function properly;
• the vehicle's harmful emissions will be minimal;
• the vehicle's catalytic converter system will last a long time.
