Inspect and replace the air filter regularly in accordance with the maintenance schedule, using the procedure described in this manual.

Clean air is necessary for proper engine operation. Do not drive the vehicle without the air filter installed. Operating the vehicle without the air filter correctly installed, or with an air filter not recommended by the manufacturer, may cause engine damage requiring costly repair, which is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

AIR CLEANER CLEANING If the air cleaner element is dirty, replace it or clean it as follows:

1. Shake the air cleaner element to remove surface dust.

2. Clean the inside of the air cleaner housing.

3. While cleaning the element, cover the open filter housing with a damp cloth.

4. To clean the air filter, direct compressed air through the filter in the direction opposite to normal airflow.
