Spark Plugs

IGNITION SYSTEM

Electronic ignition systems operate at higher voltage than conventional systems.

• Do not touch ignition system components. Touching ignition system components may cause electric shock, resulting in serious injury or death.

Spark plugs can become extremely hot and cause serious burns.

• Do not touch hot spark plugs.

• Overtightening spark plugs may damage the threads in the cylinder head.
• Undertightening spark plugs may cause them to overheat.

Both overtightening and undertightening spark plugs may damage the engine.

If you notice a loss of engine power or increased fuel consumption, one possible cause may be spark plug failure due to poor-quality fuel. To check and correct the problem, contact an authorized Chevrolet dealer. Poor-quality fuel or fuel additives may cause premature spark plug failure due to the formation of conductive deposits on the spark plug insulators. This condition is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
