Automatic transmission fluid (diesel)
Normal operation and durability of the automatic transmission depend on maintaining the correct fluid level. Fluid level that is too high or too low may cause a malfunction.
Check the fluid level with the engine running.
The automatic transmission selector lever must be in the P position. The engine and transmission must be warmed up to normal operating temperature.
Park the vehicle on a level, horizontal surface.
The normal operating temperature of the automatic transmission fluid will be reached after approximately 10 minutes of driving.
Replacement of the transmission fluid is not required.
Preventive fluid inspection is also not required. It is only needed if there are signs of a fluid-related problem.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL CHECK
If the fluid is not clear or has changed color, it must be replaced.
A drop in fluid level indicates a leak from the automatic transmission. In this case, contact an authorized Chevrolet dealer for repair as soon as possible.
This procedure requires special training and equipment.
This work must be performed only by qualified personnel.
• If you are not sure you can perform this work yourself, contact an authorized Chevrolet dealer.
Otherwise, personal injury or damage to vehicle components may occur.
• Make sure that dirt or foreign matter does not get into the transmission fluid.
Contaminated fluid may cause serious damage to the automatic transmission and lead to costly repairs.
1. Start the engine.
2. Warm up the engine until the automatic transmission fluid reaches approximately 70 °C ~ 80 °C.
3. Manually cycle the selector lever through all gear positions and return to "P". In each position, wait several seconds for the selected gear to engage fully.

4. Remove the transmission fluid level indicator bolt 1 and the indicator 2. 5. Wipe residual fluid from the indicator.
6. Insert the indicator into the transmission until it stops.
Touching hot engine or transmission parts, or splashing hot fluid, may cause serious burns.
• Be careful when checking the fluid level.

7. Remove the indicator and check the fluid level and condition.
3 Transmission fluid level at normal operating temperature.
4 Transmission fluid level when cold.
8. If the level is not within specification, check the following:
• If the fluid level is below normal, check for leaks and add fluid through the indicator opening.
• If the fluid level is above normal, the transmission is overfilled.
Drain some fluid through the drain plug. Check the fluid level.
Too much fluid will reduce the vehicle's performance.
• Do not overfill the automatic transmission with fluid.
This may cause transaxle failure.
