GENERAL INFORMATION.

Compressor Unloading Switch.

The A/C system equipped with the V-5 compressor has no compressor unloading switch

since the required compressor capacity is

provided by automatic change of its displacement according to changing A/C system operating conditions.

Low Pressure Switch.

Since there is no compressor unloading switch, the A/C system uses a low pressure switch (pressure relay), which protects the compressor from refrigerant loss and undercharge. This switch, located in the rear cover behind the high pressure switch, is also used to switch off the compressor at low ambient temperature.

The compressor crankcase has a drain plug. When removing the compressor,

Remove the drain plug and drain the oil from the crankcase. This is also necessary to completely drain the oil from the suction and discharge chambers of the compressor.
