Before performing any A/C system service that involves

removal of lines or components, read the relevant sections of this chapter carefully. When servicing the A/C system,

When servicing the A/C system and its components, strictly follow the instructions below for discharging and charging the system with refrigerant, adding oil, etc. Remove protective caps from the A/C component fittings only immediately before installation. During installation, lubricate the mating parts with clean refrigerant oil.

oil grade 525 if the system is charged with R-12 refrigerant, or PAG oil if R-134a refrigerant is used. During assembly, use only.

new round-section O-rings, dipped in clean refrigerant oil: grade 525 or PAG, depending on the refrigerant used.

depending on the type of refrigerant used. Lubrication facilitates assembly and helps ensure a leak-free connection. When tightening threaded connections, use a second wrench to hold the stationary component. Only in this way can joint tightness and correct assembly be ensured.

Perform final tightening of pipe fittings to the specified torque. Insufficient or excessive tightening

of connections may result in a loose connection or deformation of parts, respectively. In both cases, refrigerant leaks are possible.
