Air Conditioning System
GENERAL INFORMATION.
When using HFC-134a refrigerant in the air conditioning system (special order)..
HFC-134a (R-134a) refrigerant is used together with special PAG refrigerant oil, intended for lubricating the friction parts of the refrigeration unit.
This refrigerant is not compatible with CFC-12 (R-12) refrigerant or mineral oils..
Do not use R-12 refrigerant or mineral-based lubricating oils in air conditioning systems operating on HFC-134a (R-
134a). For these A/C systems, it is also prohibited to use service equipment
intended for air conditioners charged with R-
12. Otherwise, the air conditioner or service equipment will fail. When servicing air conditioners using R-134a, use only
equipment that complies with the requirements of SAE J
2210..
Warning.
Contact with refrigerant and refrigerant oil vapors and mists may
cause irritation of the eyes, nose and throat. Avoid inhaling refrigerant and refrigerant oil vapors and mists. If refrigerant accidentally leaks from the
A/C system, ventilate the work area before continuing work..
Do not leak-test an air conditioner operating on R-134a refrigerant, or the corresponding service
equipment, using compressed air.
A mixture of air and R-134a refrigerant under high pressure is flammable and may explode. This may result in serious personal injury and major property
damage. Never leak-test service equipment or air conditioners charged with R-134a using compressed air.
Additional safety precautions are given in the manufacturers' documentation
for refrigerants and oils for air conditioners.
