Brakes - Warning Lamps
If the ABS indicator illuminates while you are driving, this indicates a malfunction. Your vehicle continues to brake normally without the anti-lock brake function. Contact an authorized dealer.
It also illuminates briefly when you turn the ignition on to confirm the lamp is functional. If it does not illuminate when you turn the ignition on, or flashes at any time, have the system checked by an authorized dealer.
The brake indicator illuminates briefly when you turn the ignition on to confirm the lamp is functional. It may also illuminate when you apply the parking brake and the ignition is on. If it illuminates while your vehicle is moving, make sure the parking brake is released. If the parking brake is released, this indicates a low brake fluid level or a brake system malfunction. Brakes - Frequently Asked Questions
Is brake dust on the wheels normal?
Brake dust may accumulate on the wheels even under normal driving conditions. Some dust is unavoidable because the brakes wear and it does not affect brake noise.
Will wet driving conditions affect my braking performance?
Wet brakes reduce braking effectiveness. Lightly press the brake pedal several times when driving through a car wash or standing water to dry the brakes.
Is brake noise considered normal?
Occasional brake noise is normal. If metal-to-metal grinding or continuous squealing is present, the brake pads may be worn and should be inspected by an authorized dealer. If the vehicle constantly vibrates or the steering wheel shudders when braking, have your vehicle inspected by an authorized dealer.
When should the brake fluid be replaced?
Brake fluid absorbs water over time, which reduces brake fluid effectiveness. Replace the brake fluid at specified intervals to prevent degradation of braking performance.
