Trailer Towing Connector (If Equipped)

Ford Escape. Connecting a Trailer

When connecting the trailer wiring harness to your vehicle, use only the correct connector that matches the vehicle and trailer functions.

Trailer Lamps

Trailer lamps are required on most towed vehicles. Make sure that all running lights, brake lights, turn signals and hazard warning lights are working.

Safety Chains

Attach the trailer safety chains to the trailer hitch as recommended by the manufacturer. Cross the chains under the trailer hitch and leave enough slack to allow turning at sharp angles. Do not let the chains drag on the ground.

Ford Escape. Connecting a Trailer

If the trailer safety chain hook has a latch, make sure the latch is fully closed.
