PROCEDURE

1. Wrap the splines of the drive shaft stub with tape to protect the new CV joint boots from cuts. Install the boot onto the shaft, remove the tape, then pack the boot with the grease supplied in the repair kit. Position the boot correctly and secure it with new retaining straps.

2. If equipped, install the dynamic damper onto the shaft. Make sure the outer edge of the damper is positioned according to the marks made during removal.

When replacing the shaft assembly with the outer joint, align the damper relative to the outer CV joint boot according to the measurement taken in step 20.

3. Clean and assemble the inner CV joint (refer to steps 8 through 17). Install the drive shaft assembly on the vehicle (refer to Drive Shaft Removal and Installation).
