Brake System Warning Light

This indicator comes on when the ignition is turned on (ignition switch in the ON (II) position) and stays on until the parking brake is fully released. The indicator should go off after the parking brake is fully released.
If the indicator comes on while driving, the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir has probably dropped. Lightly depress the brake pedal and check whether its response differs from normal. If the brake pedal response is normal, have the brake fluid level checked at the nearest service station at your earliest opportunity (see page 378).
If the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir is low, have the brake pads and the hydraulic brake system checked for leaks at an authorized dealer.
In addition, the following icon appears on the multi-information display: "
", which may be accompanied by the message "BRAKE FLUID LOW".
If the brake pedal responds unusually when depressed, take immediate action. The hydraulic brake system of your vehicle is divided into two independent diagonal circuits, so if one brake circuit fails, the other circuit remains operational. Note that in this situation, the brake pedal will need to travel much farther before you feel the vehicle slow down.
In this case, shift to a lower gear and stop in a safe place on the shoulder or at the edge of the roadway. Because braking distance increases, driving the vehicle becomes dangerous. Therefore, have the vehicle towed to the nearest service station as soon as possible (see "Towing a Disabled Vehicle" on page 479).
If there is a malfunction in the brake system, the icon "
" appears on the multi-information display, possibly accompanied by the message "CHECK SYSTEM".
In an emergency, you may complete the trip if it covers a short distance, but drive very carefully and at low speed.
If the ABS indicator comes on together with the brake system indicator, have the vehicle inspected immediately at an authorized Honda dealer.
