Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) Indicator

If there is a malfunction in the engine control system, an icon appears on the multi-information display, which may be accompanied by the message "CHECK SYSTEM".
Continuing to drive with this indicator on may cause serious engine damage or engine failure. When this symbol or this symbol together with a warning message appears, pull off the road to a safe place, park on level ground, and stop the engine.
Start and stop the engine at least three times at 30-second intervals, then check the multi-information display. If the indicator remains on, have the engine systems inspected and repaired immediately at an authorized dealer service station. Until the malfunction is corrected, drive the vehicle at moderate speed. Do not fully depress the accelerator pedal.
If the symbol "
" appears frequently on the multi-information display, have the vehicle inspected at an authorized dealer service station, even if the message disappears from the display after performing the above procedure.

WARNING
Continuing to drive with the "
" symbol illuminated may damage the emission control devices as well as the engine. Damage resulting from driving the vehicle with the engine malfunction indicator on is not covered by the warranty.
For diesel engine versions
If the fuel tank runs completely empty, this icon will also appear on the multi-information display, possibly accompanied by a warning message, and you will not be able to start the engine. In this case, before starting the engine, refill the fuel tank and refer to the procedure described in "Fuel System Bleeding" on page 421.
In addition, this icon (which may be accompanied by a warning message) may appear on the multi-information display if fuel unsuitable for your climate or region is used.
As a result, engine output power may be reduced (see page 299).
