Cabin Air Filter

The cabin air filter prevents plant pollen and dust from entering the vehicle interior when the air conditioning/climate control system is operating.

Replace the cabin air filter element at the intervals specified in the vehicle maintenance schedule. For vehicles delivered to EU countries and South Africa, the maintenance schedule is provided in a separate service booklet that is part of the documentation supplied with the vehicle. For all other vehicles, the maintenance schedule is provided in this manual.

Replace the filter element more frequently if the vehicle is mainly driven in the city, where the air contains a large amount of soot emitted by industrial plants and diesel-engine trucks. Replace the filter element early if the airflow into the vehicle interior from the ventilation system has decreased.

Replacement procedure

The cabin air filter is located behind the glove box.

To replace it, proceed as follows:

1. To access the filter, open the front passenger door.

2. Open the glove box.

3. Press the stopper located on the passenger side inside the glove box to remove it from the glove box.

4. Disconnect the two clips by pressing the side panels.

5. Tilt the glove box down.

6. Remove the cabin air filter by pressing the clips and pulling the filter toward you.

7. Remove the filter element from the cabin air filter housing.

8. Install a new filter element in the housing. The "AIR FLOW" arrows on the filter element must point in the direction of the airflow through the filter, i.e., downward.

9. Install the filter in place. Make sure both clips engage securely.

10. Return the glove box to its original position. Install the clips until they click.

Install the glove box stopper in place.

11. Close the glove box.
