Oil Pump

PROCEDURE

1. Install the outer and inner oil pump rotors into the front cover, aligning the marks made earlier.
2. Install the oil pump cover and secure it with the bolts. After tightening the bolts, make sure the rotors turn smoothly and freely.
Tightening torque: 8–12 N·m
3. Install the relief valve, spring, and plug, tightening the plug to the specified torque. Before installation, apply engine oil to the relief valve.
Tightening torque: 40–50 N·m

Front Oil Seal

PROCEDURE

1. Check the front oil seal for wear or damage to the sealing edges and replace it if necessary.
2. Check the condition of the garter spring that retains the sealing edges of the oil seal.

3. Lubricate the outer surface of the new oil seal with engine oil. Using special tool 09231–22100 or a sleeve of suitable diameter, install the oil seal onto the crankshaft until it contacts the front cover.

4. Using special tool 09231–22000, install the oil seal fully into the front cover bore.
5. Install the crankshaft pulley, timing belt, and crankshaft pulley.
6. Install the oil filter.
7. Clean the mating surfaces of the oil pan and cylinder block of old gasket residue.

8. Apply a continuous bead of sealant, 4 mm in diameter, to the oil pan mating surface. Apply sealant on the inside of the bolt holes. Install the oil pan within 15 minutes after applying the sealant.
9. Install the oil pan onto the cylinder block and secure with bolts.
Tightening torque: 6–8 N·m
