The vehicle speed sensor is a reed switch built into the speedometer. The sensor converts vehicle speed data (transmission gear rotation speed) into signals (voltage pulses), which are sent to the engine control module.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS

If an open or short circuit occurs in the vehicle speed sensor circuit, the engine may stall when the vehicle decelerates to a stop.
