Injectors (INJECTORS)

INJECTORS (INJECTORS)
The injectors inject fuel into the engine cylinders in response to signals from the engine control module. The amount of fuel supplied by an injector is determined by the time during which the control pulse is applied to the injector coil (the time the injector needle valve is open).

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
1. If starting difficulties occur with a warm engine, check for low fuel pressure in the fuel lines and check the injectors for leaks.
2. If the engine does not start when cranked with the starter and the injectors do not operate, check for the following faults (not related to the injectors).
• Fault in the power supply circuit or ground circuit of the engine control module.
• Fault in the engine control relay or fuel pump relay.
• Fault in the crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor.
3. If disconnecting the injector of one cylinder causes no change in engine operation at idle, perform the following checks for that cylinder.
• Check the injector and its wiring harness.
• Check the spark plug and the high-tension spark plug cable.
• Check the compression.
4. If the injector operating time (injector opening signal duration) differs from the nominal value, even though the injector and its wiring harness are found to be normal, perform the following checks.
• Incomplete combustion in one of the cylinders.
(Fault in the spark plug, ignition coil, absence of compression, etc.) 5. The malfunction indicator lamp is on or the corresponding fault code is displayed on the HI-SCAN (Pro) tester under the following condition.
• When the injector is faulty.
