The wheels and the transmission are not engaged.

Use N (Neutral) to restart an engine that has stalled, or if you need to stop with the engine RUNNING. Shift to P (Park) if you need to leave the vehicle for any reason.

Always press the brake pedal when shifting from N (Neutral) to another gear.

WARNING Do not shift gears unless your foot is firmly on the brake pedal. Shifting gears while the engine is running at high speed may cause a sudden high acceleration of the vehicle: you may lose control and hit people or objects.
