BRAKE BOOSTER OPERATION TESTS

To perform a basic check of the brake booster operation, perform the following tests.
  1. Start the engine and let it run for one to two minutes, then stop it. If the pedal goes down fully on the first press but rises gradually afterward, the brake booster is operating normally. If the pedal height remains the same, the brake booster is faulty.
  2. With the engine off, depress the brake pedal several times. Then depress the brake pedal and start the engine. If the pedal drops slightly, the booster is in good condition. If there is no change, the booster is faulty.
  3. Start the engine, depress the brake pedal, then stop the engine. Hold the pedal depressed for 30 seconds. If the pedal height does not change, the booster is in good condition. If the pedal rises, the booster is not operating. If the three previous tests are satisfactory, the brake booster performance is good. Even if one of these tests is unsatisfactory, check that the check valve, vacuum hose and brake booster operate correctly.
