Checking the Engine Oil Level

Hyundai i30. Engine oil

1. Make sure the vehicle is on level ground.

2. Start the engine and let it reach normal operating temperature.

3. Turn off the engine and wait several minutes (about 5 minutes) for the oil to return to the oil pan.

4. Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it fully.

5. Pull out the dipstick again and check the level. The level should be between F (Full) and L (Low).

6. If the level is near or at L, add enough oil to bring the level up to F.

WARNING

  • Do not spill engine oil when adding or replacing engine oil. If you drip engine oil onto the engine compartment, wipe it off immediately.
  • When wiping the dipstick, use a clean cloth. Contamination may cause engine damage.
