Owner Maintenance

WARNING

Performing maintenance work on the vehicle can be dangerous. If you lack the knowledge and experience or the proper tools and equipment to perform the work, we recommend that the system be serviced by an authorized HYUNDAI service center. ALWAYS observe these precautions when performing maintenance work:

  • Park the vehicle on level ground, move the shift lever to P (Park, for automatic transmission/dual clutch transmission vehicles) position, apply the parking brake, and place the ignition switch in the LOCK/OFF position.
  • Block the wheels (front and rear) to prevent the vehicle from moving. Remove loose clothing or jewelry that could become caught in moving parts.
  • If you must run the engine during service, do so outdoors or in an area with plenty of ventilation.
  • Keep flames, sparks, or smoking materials away from the battery and fuel-related parts.

The following lists are vehicle inspections and checks that must be performed by the owner or an authorized HYUNDAI dealer at the intervals shown to help ensure safe, reliable operation of your vehicle.

Any abnormal conditions should be brought to the attention of your dealer as soon as possible.

These owner maintenance inspections are generally not covered by warranty, and you may be charged for labor, parts, and lubricants.

WARNING

Diesel

Never manipulate or modify the injection system while the diesel engine is running or within 30 seconds after the diesel engine is turned off. The high-pressure pump, high-pressure lines, rail, and injectors are still under high pressure immediately after the diesel engine is stopped.

Fuel leakage may cause serious personal injury when it ignites. Any person with an implanted cardiac pacemaker should keep at least 30 cm away from the ECM or wiring harness while the diesel engine is running. The strong currents of the electronic engine control system generate a significant amount of magnetic fields.
