Fuses

~1min read
Hyundai i30. Fuses

The vehicle's electrical system is protected from damage caused by electrical overload by fuses.

This vehicle has 2 (or 3) fuse panels, one located on the driver's side dash panel (instrument panel) and the other in the engine compartment.

If any of your vehicle's lights, accessories, or controls do not work, check the corresponding circuit fuse. If a fuse has blown, the element inside the fuse will melt or break.

If an electrical system does not operate, first check the driver's side fuse panel. Before replacing a blown fuse, turn the engine and all switches off, then disconnect the negative battery cable. Always replace a blown fuse with one of the same rating.

If a replacement fuse blows again, this indicates an electrical problem. Avoid using the affected system and consult an authorized HYUNDAI dealer immediately.

Information

Three types of fuses are used: blade type for lower current ratings, cartridge type, and multi-fuse for higher current ratings.

WARNING

NEVER replace a fuse with anything other than a fuse of the same rating.

  • A fuse with a higher rating may cause damage and possibly result in a fire.
  • Do not use wire or aluminum foil in place of a proper fuse, even as a temporary repair. This may cause extensive wiring damage and possibly a fire.

NOTICE

Do not use a screwdriver or any other metal object to remove fuses, as this may cause a short circuit and damage the system.
