Checking the Brake/Clutch Fluid Level

Hyundai i30. Brake/clutch fluid

Check the fluid level in the reservoir periodically. The fluid level should be between the MAX and MIN marks on the side of the reservoir.

Before removing the reservoir cap and adding brake/clutch fluid, clean the area around the reservoir cap thoroughly to prevent contamination of the brake/clutch fluid.

If the level is low, add fluid up to the MAX level. The level will drop as mileage accumulates. This is normal and is related to brake pad wear.

If the fluid level is too low, we recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

Information

Use only the specified brake/clutch fluid. Refer to "Recommended Lubricants and Capacities" in Chapter 8.

Information

Before removing the brake/clutch fluid reservoir cap, read the warning on the cap.

Information

Before removing, clean the filler cap. Use only DOT3 or DOT4 brake/clutch fluid from a sealed container.

WARNING

If the brake/clutch system requires frequent fluid additions, this may indicate a leak in the brake/clutch system. We recommend that the vehicle be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

WARNING

Do not allow brake/clutch fluid to come into contact with your eyes. If brake/clutch fluid gets into your eyes, flush your eyes with clean water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention immediately.

NOTICE

  • Do not allow brake/clutch fluid to contact the vehicle body paint, as damage to the paint will result.
  • Brake/clutch fluid that has been exposed to air for a long period must never be used, as its quality cannot be guaranteed. It must be disposed of properly.
  • Do not add the wrong type of fluid. A few drops of mineral oil, such as engine oil, in your brake/clutch system may damage system components.
