RCCW (Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning)

~3min read

The rear cross-traffic collision warning function monitors cross traffic approaching from the left and right sides of the vehicle when the vehicle is in reverse.

Operating Conditions

To operate:

Go to "User Settings → Driver Assistance" and select "Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning" on the LCD display to activate.

The system will turn on and enter standby mode to activate. If you deactivate this function in the cluster, the system will stop.

Refer to "User Settings Mode" in Chapter 3 for more details.

Information

If the vehicle is turned off, the BCW system returns to its previous state when the vehicle is turned on again.

The system is activated when the vehicle speed is below 10 km/h and the shift lever is in the R (Reverse) position.

The detection range of the rear cross-traffic collision warning is approximately 0.5 m to 20 m (1 ft to 65 ft) in the direction of both sides of the vehicle. An approaching vehicle will be detected if its speed is within 2.5 to 4 km/h.

Note that the detection range may vary under certain conditions. As always, be careful and pay close attention to your surroundings when backing up your vehicle.

Warning Type

Hyundai i30. Collision Warning)

If a vehicle approaching your vehicle is detected by the sensors, a warning chime will sound, the warning light on the outside rearview mirror will flash, and a message will appear on the LCD display.

Information

  • The warning signal will turn off when:
    - The detected vehicle leaves the detection zone, or
    - The vehicle is directly behind your vehicle, or
    - The vehicle is not approaching your vehicle, or
    - The other vehicle decelerates.
  • The system may malfunction due to other factors or circumstances. Always pay attention to your surroundings.
  • If the sensitive area near the rear bumper is blocked by a wall, a post, or a parked vehicle, the detection area of the system may be reduced.

WARNING

  • When BCW is activated, the warning light on the outside rearview mirror will illuminate whenever a vehicle is detected on the rear side of the system. To avoid an accident, do not focus only on the warning light and neglect seeing the surroundings of the vehicle.
  • Drive safely even if the vehicle is equipped with Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW). Do not rely only on the system, but check your surroundings before changing lanes or backing up the vehicle. The system may not warn the driver in some conditions, so always check your surroundings while driving.
  • The Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW) systems do not replace proper and safe driving practices. Always drive safely and exercise caution when changing lanes or backing up your vehicle. The Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) system may not detect every object near the vehicle.

NOTICE

  • The system may not operate correctly when the bumper has been damaged, or if the rear bumper has been replaced or repaired.
  • The detection range varies slightly depending on the width of the road. When the road is narrow, the system may detect other vehicles in the adjacent lane, OR when the road is wide, the system may not detect other vehicles in the adjacent lane.
  • The system may be deactivated due to strong electromagnetic waves.
