EPB malfunction

~1min read

The Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) warning light illuminates when the ignition switch is in the ON position and goes off after approximately 3 seconds if the system is operating normally.

If the EPB warning light stays on, comes on while driving, or does not come on when the ignition switch is turned on, the EPB may be malfunctioning.

In this case, have the system inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

The EPB warning light may illuminate when the ESC indicator light comes on, indicating that ESC is not operating properly. This does not indicate a malfunction of the EPB.

NOTICE

  • If the parking brake indicator light does not come on or flashes after the EPB switch has been pressed, the EPB may not apply.
  • If the EPB warning light still stays on or flashes, or the parking brake indicator light comes on while the EPB warning light is on, press the switch and then pull it up. Repeat this once more. If the EPB warning does not turn off, have the vehicle towed by a flatbed to an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
