To reduce the potential for engine and transmission overheating at high ambient temperatures, take the following actions:

  • City driving — when stopped, shift into NEUTRAL (N) and increase idle speed.
  • Highway driving — reduce speed.
  • Up steep hills — select a lower gear.
  • Air conditioning — turn off temporarily.

NOTE:

If the coolant temperature becomes too high, the air conditioning will turn off automatically.
