Engine at idle

Avoid prolonged idling. Extended periods of idling can be harmful to your engine because combustion chamber temperatures may drop low enough that fuel does not burn completely. Incomplete combustion causes carbon and varnish buildup on the piston rings, cylinder head valves and injectors. Unburned fuel may also enter the crankcase, diluting the oil and causing rapid engine wear.
