Repair Procedures

Removal

[Suction and Liquid Tube Assembly]

  1. If the compressor is operating at its limit, run the engine at idle and let the air conditioner operate for several minutes, then stop the engine.

  2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

  3. Recover the refrigerant using a recovery/recharging station.

  4. Remove the engine cover (A).

  5. Remove the bolts and the expansion valve (A) from the evaporator core.

    Tightening torque: 8.8–13.7 N·m

  6. Loosen the nut and remove the suction hose (A).

    Tightening torque: 8.8–13.7 N·m

  7. Disconnect the air conditioner pressure sensor connector (A).

  8. Remove the engine room cover.

G 2.0 MPI NU (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - Engine Room Under Cover)

G 1.6 MPI GAMMA (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - Engine Room Under Cover)

D 1.6 TCI-NEW U (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - Engine Room Under Cover)

G 1.6 T-GDI GAMMA (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Cover")

  9. Remove the bolts, then disconnect the suction line (A) from the compressor.

    Tightening Torque: 21.6–32 N·m

  10. Support the jack under the edge of the oil pan.

  11. Loosen the bolt and nuts, then remove the engine mount support bracket (A).

    Tightening torque: 58.8–74 N·m

  12. Loosen the mounting bolt of the bracket (B) on the suction and liquid line assembly (A).

    Tightening torque: 7.8–11.8 N·m

  13. Remove the refrigerant line assembly from the upper part of the engine compartment.

[Discharge Tube Assembly]

  1. If the compressor is operating at its limit, run the engine at idle and let the air conditioner operate for several minutes, then stop the engine.

  2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

  3. Recover the refrigerant using a recovery/recharging station.

  4. Loosen the nut and remove the discharge line (A).

    Tightening torque: 8.8–13.7 N·m

  5. Loosen the mounting nut, then remove the discharge hose assembly (A).

    Tightening Torque: 21.6–32 N·m

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
