Hood Opening

1. Pull the hood release lever. The hood should pop up slightly.
WARNING
Open the hood after turning off the engine on a level surface, shifting the gear selector lever to P (Park) for automatic transaxle or 1st (First) gear or R (Reverse) for manual transaxle, and applying the parking brake.

2. Go to the front of the vehicle, slightly lift the hood, pull the secondary latch (1) inside the center of the hood, and lift the hood (2).
3. Lift the hood. It will open fully by itself once it has been lifted approximately halfway.
Hood Closing
1. Before closing the hood, check the following:
- All engine compartment filler caps must be installed correctly.
- Gloves, rags, or any other flammable material must be removed from the engine compartment.
2. Lower the hood halfway, then press down to securely lock it in place.
WARNING
- Before closing the hood, make sure all obstructions are removed from the hood opening. Closing the hood with an obstruction in the hood opening may cause property damage or serious injury.
- Do not leave gloves, rags, or other flammable materials in the engine compartment. This may cause a fire due to overheating.
WARNING
- Always double-check that the hood is securely latched before driving. If it is not latched, the hood may open while the vehicle is being driven, resulting in a complete loss of visibility, which may cause a traffic accident.
- Do not drive the vehicle with the hood open. Visibility will be obstructed and the hood may fall or be damaged.
WARNING

Be careful when inspecting the engine compartment not to hit your head on the hood prop rod located inside the hood.
