Hill-start Assist Control (HAC)
The vehicle tends to roll backward on a steep slope when starting off after stopping. The Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) prevents the vehicle from rolling back by automatically applying the brakes for approximately 2 seconds. The brakes are released when the accelerator pedal is pressed or after approximately 2 seconds.
HAC operates for only approximately 2 seconds, so always press the accelerator pedal promptly when starting off on a hill.
WARNING. Maintaining Brake Force on a Slope.
HAC does not eliminate the need to apply the brakes when stopped on a slope. While stopped, make sure brake pressure is sufficient to prevent the vehicle from rolling back and causing an accident. Do not release the brake pedal until you are ready to accelerate forward.
