System Limitations
The Smart Cruise Control system may have limitations in detecting the distance to the vehicle ahead due to road and traffic conditions.
On Curves

- On curves, the Smart Cruise Control system may not immediately detect a vehicle in your lane, and your vehicle may accelerate to the set speed. In addition, your vehicle's speed will decrease rapidly when a vehicle ahead is suddenly detected.
- Select an appropriate set speed for curves and adjust your vehicle speed by pressing the accelerator or brake pedal according to the road and driving conditions ahead.

- Your vehicle speed may be reduced due to a vehicle in an adjacent lane. Adjust your vehicle speed by pressing the brake pedal according to the road and traffic conditions ahead. Press the accelerator pedal and select an appropriate set speed. Make sure road conditions allow safe operation of the Smart Cruise Control system.
On Slopes

- When driving uphill or downhill, the Smart Cruise Control system may not immediately detect a vehicle in your lane, which may cause your vehicle to accelerate to the set speed. In addition, your vehicle's speed will decrease rapidly when a vehicle ahead is suddenly detected.
- Select an appropriate set speed on slopes and adjust your vehicle speed by pressing the accelerator or brake pedal according to the road conditions ahead.
Lane Changes

- A vehicle moving into your lane from an adjacent lane cannot be detected by the sensor until it is within the sensor's detection range.
- The sensor may not immediately detect sudden braking of a vehicle. Always pay attention to traffic, the road, and driving conditions.
- If a vehicle traveling in your lane is moving slower than your vehicle, your speed may decrease to maintain the distance to the vehicle ahead.
- If a vehicle traveling in your lane is moving faster than your vehicle, your vehicle will accelerate to the selected speed.

- Your vehicle may accelerate when the vehicle ahead of you moves out of the way.
- When you are warned that a vehicle ahead is not detected, drive with caution.
Vehicle Recognition

Some vehicles ahead in your lane may not be detected by the sensor as follows:
- Narrow vehicles such as motorcycles or bicycles
- Vehicles offset to one side
- Slow-moving vehicles or vehicles that decelerate suddenly
- Stopped vehicles
- Vehicles with a small rear profile, such as unloaded trailers
The vehicle ahead may not be correctly detected by the sensor if one of the following conditions exists:
- When the vehicle is tilted upward due to a load in the luggage compartment or cargo area.
- When steering the vehicle
- When driving on one side of the lane
- When driving on narrow lanes or on curves
Adjust your vehicle speed by pressing the brake pedal according to the road conditions ahead and the driving conditions.

• When your vehicle is stopped and a vehicle ahead moves into another lane, be careful when your vehicle starts moving, because it may not immediately detect the stopped vehicle ahead. In this case, maintain a safe braking distance and, if necessary, press the brake pedal to reduce speed and keep a safe distance.

• Always watch for pedestrians when your vehicle is following a vehicle ahead.

• Always be careful when approaching taller vehicles with high ground clearance, or vehicles carrying loads that extend beyond the rear of the vehicle.
WARNING: Safe use of the Smart Cruise Control system.
The Smart Cruise Control system can provide an additional level of safety and reduced driver fatigue. However, you must always pay close attention to the road ahead and around you, and maintain control of your vehicle and the distance to other vehicles as usual. For example, you may need to apply the brakes when approaching a slow-moving vehicle, or when a vehicle from another lane suddenly moves in front of you.
WARNING: Emergency stop
The Smart Cruise Control system may not be able to fully stop the vehicle or avoid a collision in every situation. If an emergency stop is necessary, you must press the brake pedal.
WARNING: Slopes and towing
Do not use the Smart Cruise Control system on steep slopes or when towing another vehicle or trailer, as such excessive load may prevent your vehicle from maintaining the selected speed.
- After starting the engine, wait a few seconds. If the system initialization is not complete, the Smart Cruise Control will not operate.
- After starting the engine, if the sensor cover is covered with foreign matter, the Smart Cruise Control may not operate properly.
- The following conditions may cause a malfunction: excessive load on the rear of the vehicle, suspension modification, or replacing tires with unapproved tires or tires with a different tread wear rating and pressure.
- Maintain a safe distance according to road conditions and vehicle speed. If the distance to the vehicle ahead is too short while driving at high speed, a serious collision may result.
- The Smart Cruise Control cannot detect a stopped vehicle, pedestrians, or an oncoming vehicle. Always watch the road ahead carefully to prevent unexpected and sudden situations.
- When other vehicles frequently change lanes in front of you, the system response may be delayed. Always watch the road ahead carefully to prevent unexpected and sudden situations.
- The Smart Cruise Control is a convenience system and does not replace the driver's responsibility for safe driving. It is the driver's responsibility to always check the vehicle speed and the distance to the vehicle ahead.
- Always be aware of the set speed and the distance between vehicles.
- Always allow sufficient braking distance and reduce vehicle speed by applying the brakes when necessary.
