Fahrzeuge mit Lenkradschloss
The steering wheel is locked when the ENGINE START/STOP button is in the OFF position, to protect the vehicle against theft. The steering wheel lock is activated when the door is opened.
If the steering wheel is not properly locked, a warning sound will be heard when the driver's door is opened. If the problem is not resolved, have the system checked by an authorized workshop. Kia recommends visiting a Kia dealer/service partner.
If the ENGINE START/STOP button is placed in the OFF position only after the driver's door is opened, the steering wheel is also not locked and the warning sound will be heard. In this situation, close the door. The steering wheel will then lock and the warning sound will stop.
WARNING
If the steering wheel is not properly unlocked, the ENGINE START/STOP button will not function. Press the ENGINE START/STOP button while turning the steering wheel left and right to release the tension.
- If it is difficult to set the ENGINE START/STOP button to the ACC position, turn the steering wheel left and right to reduce resistance while pressing the ENGINE START/STOP button.
- When turning off the engine, stop the vehicle first.
WARNING
You can turn off the engine (START/STOP) or deactivate the vehicle's power supply (ON) when the vehicle is not moving. In an emergency, you can turn off the engine while the vehicle is moving and activate the ACC position by pressing the ENGINE START/STOP button for longer than 2 seconds or three times in succession within 3 seconds. If the vehicle is moving, you can restart the engine without depressing the brake pedal by pressing the ENGINE START/STOP button while the shift lever is in Neutral (N).

WARNING
If you press the ENGINE START/STOP button without depressing the clutch pedal (manual transmission) or the brake pedal (automatic transmission/dual clutch transmission), the engine will not start and the ENGINE START/STOP button changes as follows:
OFF → ACC → ON → OFF or ACC
WARNING
If you leave the ENGINE START/STOP button in the ACC or ON position for a long period, the battery will discharge.
WARNING
- Never press the ENGINE START/STOP button while the vehicle is moving. This could cause loss of steering and braking control, which may result in an accident.
- The steering wheel lock is not a substitute for the parking brake. Always check that the shift lever is in Park (P), fully apply the parking brake, and turn off the engine before leaving the driver's seat. If these precautions are not observed, the vehicle may suddenly and unexpectedly move.
- Never reach through the steering wheel to the ENGINE START/STOP button or other related components while driving. If your arm or hand is in this area, you could lose control of the vehicle and cause an accident and serious or fatal injuries.
- Do not place loose objects in the driver's seat area, as they may move, distract the driver, and cause an accident.
