The ESC indicator illuminates when the ignition switch is turned on, and it should turn off after approximately 3 seconds. When the ESC is on, it monitors driving conditions. Under normal driving conditions, the ESC indicator remains off. When a slippery or low-traction condition is encountered, the ESC operates and the ESC indicator flashes, indicating that the ESC is operating.

However, if the ESC system is faulty, the indicator light comes on and stays on. We recommend having the system checked by an authorized Kia dealer.
