Check the Parking Brake

Type A

Check whether the travel meets the specification when the parking brake pedal is pressed with a force of 20 kg (44 lb or 196 N). In addition, the parking brake alone should hold the vehicle on a steep slope. If the travel is above or below the specification, have the parking brake adjusted at an authorized Kia dealer.

Type B

Check the parking brake travel by counting the number of clicks between the fully applied and fully released positions.

In addition, the parking brake alone is not sufficient to hold the vehicle securely on a steep slope. If the lever travel is below or above the specification, have the parking brake adjusted at an authorized Kia dealer.

Travel: 6–8 clicks under a force of 20 kg (44 lb, 196 N).
